Landmark 1929 Colonial Revival Demolished in Highland Park, Texas
DEMOLISHED | Built 1929 | 4,816 Sq. Ft. | 4 Beds | 4 Baths | 0.23 Acres
Highland Park, Texas, United States
Despite efforts by neighbours to try and save this landmark home in Highland Park, demolition proceeded today, reducing the 94-year-old structure to a pile of rubble. The Potted Boxwood & Preservation Park Cities have both been covering the ongoing efforts to try and halt demolition. Fairfax Avenue, lined with trees and architecturally unique historic homes, is no stranger to redevelopment. One by one, charming homes are demolished and replaced with new, overdeveloped mansions, leaving no trace of their predecessors. With each demolition, these historic neighbourhoods are losing their character and architectural history. While never officially listed on either Zillow or Realtor, property records show the 4,816 square foot brick home as being built in 1929 with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. CandysDirt.com shared the flyer below, calling it the โHighland Park Planโ, and noting that it was once owned by the C.F. Hawn family. Pictures & videos shared today by The Potted Boxwood show excavators pulling the house apart, all while revealing original windows, bannisters, an arched doorway, and other architectural elements left in place.
