Classic 1909 Brick Colonial Revival Demolished

Demolished | Built 1909 | 2,652 Sq. Ft. | 5 Beds | 4 Baths | 0.40 Acres
Illinois, United States

This classic center entry brick Colonial Revival, built in 1909, was a stunning piece of architectural history among equally impressive homes of the era. With its brick exterior, five bedrooms, and four bathrooms, the house boasted hardwood floors throughout and elegant living and dining rooms. The home had been meticulously maintained over the years, but unfortunately, after it sold in 2015 for $1.73 million, signs of neglect began to show. The once manicured gardens became overgrown, ivy consumed the exterior โ€“ including covering sections of the windows & shutters, and by 2017, the house had been completely razed. A new three-story stone facade residence was built in its place. Weโ€™ve compiled a few shots showing what the home once looked like, what it became and what replaced it. Do you prefer the original or the new build?
