Privately situated on twenty acres with 850 feet of shoreline, the “Paine House” built in 1949, the same year as Johnson’s iconic “Glass House,” is the fourth of his glass house style residences to be built and one of only twelve privately owned homes that are still in existence. Great sensitivity to light and flow of the surroundings was taken when the house was sited, drawing inspiration from Mies’s Resor House, the home is sided with cypress and utilizes massive walls of glass to achieve expansive lake views to the east and green landscape to the west, allowing for stunning flow-through views.
